For free entry..it's a really good museum.
Ridgewell Airfield Commemorative Museum is along the A1017, about one mile to the north of Great Yeldham. It is run by enthusiastic volunteers and located in a WW2 vintage building. It is well laid out. For a small museum, there is a lot to see; mainly fragments of aircraft operated from Ridgewell, recovered from crash sites. The stories of the missions and the men who flew and died in them are also described. Both USAAF and RAF were based there.Adjacent to the museum are memorials to the units which flew from Ridgewell. This museum is well worth a visit. The remains of the airfield are located in the farmland to the east of the museum. The location of runways and taxiways can be seen in fieldtracks; and on Google earth.
Wonderful little museum with friendly and knowledgeable staff.
A place worth visiting again to see what you missed first time. Great info from the people who run it.
A very nice, small museum dedicated to the brave men of 90 Squadron RAF and the 381st Bombardment Group who saw service here during the dark days of WWII. Well worth a visit
